Course Credits and Graduation

Our guidance counsellor has been working over time double checking students academic reports for graduation. Please be aware, if a student is not successful in passing one or more courses, it could change their year-end graduation.

There is opportunity for students to return to Summit Trails to finish off their requirements the following year. In light of the many changes in our lives over the past 2 years, some students may need to take an extra year to complete their studies.

Parents and students if you would like to see the Detailed Academic Report of all your child’s high school courses, you will need to sign up for PASI - MyPass

What does my child need to graduate high school?

You can also schedule a time with the guidance counsellor.

Graduation is an academic celebration of years of hard work. Congratulations on making it this far. To make it a meaningful event requires your active participation. You can participate by:

  • Being informed about diploma requirements and ensuring that you have passed or are registered in all the necessary courses to earn your diploma by the end of June.
  • Watching for and reading any grad information in the monthly newsletters, on the school website.
  • Providing input by asking your Connect Class Teacher or providing feedback.
  • Providing necessary information and pictures for the committees, the newspaper, and the yearbook
  • Volunteering to help either in a short term or long-term capacity

Celebrating graduation is an exciting time in your life. By working together, we can ensure your memory of it is special. I look forward to a wonderful grade 12 year, culminating in a celebration of your educational journey.

Road to Graduation

  1. You must double check that you are registered in the necessary credits and courses to fulfill high school diploma requirements by the end your graduation year. See below.
  2. Complete assigned work to a passing standard.
  3. Must be in good standing to walk the stage.
  4. Students must maintain above a 50% in all courses required for their diploma up to the graduation date (May 15, 2023).

You are responsible to check the accuracy of the information needed for graduation using myPass.

(high school courses, marks, credit totals, demographic and birthdate information)

MyPass is the Alberta government’s online application for students to:

  • order high school transcripts in English or French
  • view diploma exam marks
  • register to write or rewrite diploma exams with online payment
  • view and print Detailed Academic Reports (DAR)
  • view progress towards a credential (diploma or certificate)
  • order additional copies of an awarded credential in English or French
  • get notifications for important messages

MyPass can also be used to view and print an official record of who a student resides with and where they live. This may be required for some Canada Revenue Agency inquiries effective from school year 2017.

Email the school Admin Assistant, Cheryl Rinehart and provide:

- personal email address (not RVS)

- password of your choice

We will register you and email you back with instructions for sign in.

Required information to sign up for myPass

To sign up, you must have:

  • an Education Account (current students can contact their school and former students can contact Alberta Education Student Records)
  • the student's Alberta Student Number (ASN)
  • the student's date of birth
  • a current personal email address
  • school email addresses are not recommended

Students can sign up at their high school or online with myPass. We encourage all high school students to sign up in Grade 10.

Parents or guardians

Parents or guardians can sign up at their child's current high school.

Other individuals

A student can grant myPass access to other individuals by entering their email address in myPass and specifying the relationship. This will generate an access code. The other individual may then input this code along with their email address into myPass to view the student’s information.

Additional academic criteria: no mark lower than 75% in the Grade 12 year.  Returning grade 12 students are eligible. Courses must be of a 30 level or Option Course.  If the student is taking a 20 level course and is achieving below a 75% they will not be considered.

  • Candidates should possess and demonstrate a consistent positive attitude.
  • Seen as an exemplary role model & contributing peer in their class
    • involvement in classes, work ethic, attendance, social interactions (in the online world this is more difficult.  Therefore teachers will also have a hand in voting for what they have witnessed in the classes the applicant has taken)

Application Interest

Considerations to highlight:

  • The digital application will be released to eligible students by April 14 and must be submitted to Mr. Smith (by clicking submit) by April 21. No late applications will be accepted.
  • The packages will be reviewed and scored by a selection committee to determine the 3 candidates.
  • A further interview will occur for students who have similar mark averages.
  • If there is not a student who qualifies due to mark concerns, this will be reviewed by the committee as a Valedictorian is representation of Summit Trials, not just the mark on their transcript.
