Preparation for the First Day - Mandatory Orientation
Welcome to our school community! Before beginning classes, it's essential to attend an orientation session with Dana Fleck, our Orientation Lead, or in a group setting. This session is key to understanding our online learning environment and ensuring your success at Summit Trails.
Please note, attending this orientation is mandatory before starting your classes. We are excited to guide you through this process and look forward to your successful journey with us.
Tech Orientation
Located in Moodle: https://summitonline.rockyview.ab.ca/
First-time users:
Username: use your RVS Gmail email (name@rvschools.ab.ca)
Password: School PS Number
The first time you log in, Moodle will activate your account and your teacher will be able to see you.
Zoom: Your synchronous sessions are held in Zoom. You will find the link to the Zoom classes in your Moodle Course on the first page. Your teacher will also send you a welcome letter with the link. You can create your Zoom account if you like, but this is unnecessary. Your full name must be typed for the teacher to let you in. "Dad's Iphone" will not be let into the room.

You can change your password once logged in. Please call the school or the help desk if this is not working.

Parent Authorizations
You will receive an email from SchoolEngage to sign authorizations to utilize the technology. We have connections with many educational resources that will make all the difference in your ease and success in school. These must be signed digitally before starting the school year. Parents will receive two emails. One is for Annual Authorizations Rocky View Schools, and a second email is for Confirmation of Demographics. If either of these forms is not completed, your child will have interruptions in their learning. Alberta Education requires both for your child to be enrolled at the school.
Online Preparation
1. You require a computer, a working camera and a microphone.
2. RVS Email: Each student will receive an email from RVS. An example email is: firstnamemiddleinitiallastname@rvschools.ab.ca.
- Once your email is generated from our system, the parents will receive an email with your new email address, studentname@rockyview.ab.ca, with the username and password.
- Student Note: If you would like the username and password sent to your personal email, please contact Cheryl Rinehart at crinehart@rockyview.ab.ca .
